In Friends Along the Way, a song from Mary Karlzen's new studio album, Mary sings; "Now my I see a ship sailing up on the blue horizon, cutting through the fog and the clouds of a brand new day." Indeed it is a brand new day for Mary as she returns with her most enduring and compelling work of her career.
Recorded in Nashville, and produced by Jansen Press, the album showcases Mary's signature voice and songwriting style with 12 original new songs and a heartfelt duet with Matthew Ryan of the Tom Waits classic; The Heart Of Saturday Night. Striking that delicate balance of deeply personal lyrics with universal appeal, Mary once again delivers a stellar collection of richly melodic songs, ranging from the haunting ballads Show Me and Stay Forever to the guitar driven rockers; Oh My and Find Yourself.
Mary and producer Press drew in some of the country's finest musicians to make the album, which was tracked at Alex The Great Studios. The band features Garry W. Tallent on bass (Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band), Ken Coomer on drums (Uncle Tupelo & Wilco) and John Deaderick on piano and keyboards (The Dixie Chicks ) with special guest appearances by Paul Deakin and Robert Reynolds of The Mavericks, Joe Pisapia (Guster) and Ryan.
Other special guest musicians include Derek Murphy , Jolynn Daniel, Daniel Tashian, Kelly Christie and more!!! Stay tuned for upcoming news soon!!!!
